First Grade

It's just fair having to got to school just 2 days after coming home from vacation. Mommy has had homework all week! The Boy said that he likes his teacher because she knows all about science and worms.
This was the first day of kindergarten - boy am I happy that grade is over with! I was told that the difference between Kindergarten and First Grade is that you have more toys in the room in Kindergarten. It only goes down hill from here sweetie - wait till medical school (:

Sandy Toes

We spent a great week at Emerald Isle, NC. We had never been there before, but are always up for new places.
The boy learned how to swim over the Winter and now he is fearless! Dad was thrilled to have a partner to surf the waves and Mom on the other hand needed a glass of wine after the beach trip.I even managed to catch one very small wave.We went to a cool bowling alley and learned that Wii Bowling is much easier than real bowling. Bella beat us the first game with the assistance of her bumpers and ramp, but that is still really pathetic! The water was so clear. There were many sand castles to be built.Tons of waves to play in and run from in some instances.
We took the world's fastest ferry boat ride to an island to look for shells and wild horses. I knew we were in for one heck of a ride when he said hold on to your hats and anything else that may blow out of the boat. We saw one horse, but there were lots of shells and beautiful scenery. Bella was whimpering when we first got on the boat, but then she suddenly felt a need for speed and started laughing and WhooHooing once we started.

We had a great ocean view and spent a lot of time on the deck.
We went on a couple go cart rides that convinced me that neither one of my kids should get their license.
Hurricane Bill stirred up the ocean during our last day which made it a red flag day on the beach so we headed to the aquarium. Of course it is best to save that trip till the end of the vacation because the sharks are scary and I would rather not think about them while on vacation at the beach.

Here is a nice picture of my three children at play - I mean my kids and my husband. I can't wait till next year!

Funny

Bella told us while we were on vacation that the difference between butterflies and moths is that butterflies are happy and moths are sad.

Back Home

We are back from vacation and we had lots of fun and will post pics in a bit. Yesterday was the first day of school for the boy and tonight is our first attempt at being the Coach and Assistant Coach of our son's soccer team - please send a prayer our way!

Today I was feeling overwhelmed and looked to my online shrink for help - Google. I found this great website on parenting and other things from a homeschooling mom. There are a lot of good tips and I found this one on meal planning pretty intriguing. I hate (I mean HATE) trying to figure out which of the same 10 recipes I'm going to make each week. At least this will narrow my choices each week. So, I think I am going to give it a try in September and will let you know how it goes.

If you remember from a while back I made a bunch of make ahead frozen meals. They were so so, but I really got sick of the numerous pasta, white sauce, pasta meals pretty quick! I don't think I'll do this again until it is soup/chili weather. Those I know I can freeze.

Camping We Will Go

We took our first trip with or new pop-up camper and while Mommy was preparing all the things that were needed..... Bella was drawing all over her face with a ballpoint pen. She came downstairs and proudly announced "I'm a tiger roar!" Mom Tip - Ballpoint pen comes off easily with a little water on a paper towel. We stayed in a campground right next to the amusement park. We were so close that we were practically under the roller coaster. At least we were at the park for the majority of the time it was running.
We had yummy burgers and unlike when we tent camped we didn't have to do this over an open fire. We did all the great camping stuff like hunting for fireflies. We had s'mores - Yum and then that night it poured!!!! Again, unlike tent camping we didn't wake up to a flooded tent. We already have our next trip scheduled.

Atlanta

I was in Atlanta for the past week doing very serious work stuff like going to a party at the Coca-Cola Museum. I even got to sit on the couch from Season 4 of American Idol.
